You don’t have to be an IT whizz to be a Digital Health Champion – you just need a bit of spare time and enthusiasm to support others to use the internet to manage their health online.

As a Digital Health Champion you’ll support others to learn the basics of computers and the internet. You’ll offer advice, information and support to patients who want to access health and wellbeing services online or improve their confidence with the basics.

Our Digital Health Champions work with learners on a one-to-one basis at Mind in Bexley offices or at local community centres for a minimum of 2 hours a week.

What skills do I need?

• Able to use computers, search the internet and use email confidently. • Enthusiastic about the positive effect that technology can have on a patient’s life. • Sociable and personable. • Patient. • Understanding of people’s motivations for learning. • Able to empathise with diverse groups. • Reliable and well-organised. • Good sense of humour and willing to have fun. • Excellent communication skills. • Able to explain technology in a simple, clear way. • Able to travel to local venues. • Willing to act as an advocate of the Digital Health Champions Network.

Availability Details

Volunteers will be asked to commit a minimum of 2 hours a week for 6 months. Training is scheduled for October. Client appointments will be scheduled from November.
