There are lots of ways you can volunteer with us, using your skills and learning new ones. You will be supporting people with learning disabilities and people with autism. Volunteering can give you the opportunity to learn new skills. It also looks great on your CV. Volunteering is proven to improve wellbeing, helping people flourish in sometimes unexpected ways. You might make new friends, boost confidence & self-esteem and your mental health. We are seeking volunteers who would like to support a small, dynamic, and lovely team with great vision and passion for what we do. We are looking for people who are well organised, enjoy making sure that things are correct (and can spot things which aren’t!) and who want to make our members feel good about the value they bring to our living well project. While most of the work is in our café called Basil's or 1 to 1 and/or groups settings, you will see the very real impact of your efforts on a daily basis. Your main duties with this role are to support the living well co-ordinator in the kitchen making delicious meals, food prep and cooking and day to day running of our café. You will support people 1 to 1 to ensure they feel included and enjoy the sessions.

What skills do I need?

Our volunteers would ideally have: • Great attention to detail • Positive and can-do attitude • Lovely communication skills • Be comfortable with computers and data entry • Understanding importance of personal data privacy • Passion for working with people with LD and Autism.

You can learn new skills too:

Our volunteer roles can give you a wide range of skills and experience. You could learn: 1. customer service skills 2. leadership and teamwork 3. time management 4. administration and office experience 5. public speaking 6. event organisation

If you have a specific skill you want to develop or would like to gain experience in a particular area, please let us know and we can find out which volunteer role might suit you best.
