Positive Steps Thamesmead Team is a wellbeing and signposting service which is community based in various centres across Thamesmead. You will work as part of a team referral and signposting service, as you meet and greet visitors to these centres and your tasks will be: • Collecting and managing the information and signposting stands at one of our three Positive Steps venues across Thamesmead • Acting as first point of contact to visitors to identify any issues or concerns they have when you collect information and guide them through referral form • You will provide a listening ear and empathetic approach to all accessing the service • Obtaining contact details and other engagement information when required

What skills do I need?

This very important project provides a real lifeline to local people needing support services, so we need volunteers who are aware of this and will be dedicated in this role. You will need to possess good attention to detail, as you will be handling important and confidential data to be accurately reported and recorded at all times. A background in customer service or advice would be beneficial, but isn’t essential. You will be non-judgmental, patient and approachable, good at listening and have an empathetic nature. You will also have a good grasp of client confidentiality and respect for the privacy and dignity of those using Positive Steps Thamesmead. You will be representing Peabody and our partners at all times and so you will also need to take this into consideration when carrying out the role.
