For Community Connect
We are looking for a Serbian speaking Wellbeing Volunteer to provide ongoing support for a client who speaks Serbian as their first language. While they have knowledge of English, they may be better supported if we can connect them to another Serbian speaker. If you are interested in promoting health and wellbeing, have good listening skills and want to give back, then this could be the perfect role for you!
As a Telephone Wellbeing Volunteer you will: • Be matched with a Community Connect client • Maintain regular contact with your Match via telephone • Encourage a positive attitude towards health and wellbeing • Help to reduce loneliness and isolation by checking in with them weekly
• Speak Serbian to an almost native level • Be a good listener • Be committed and motivated to improve the wellbeing of others • Be available at your allotted weekly/fortnightly slot • Attend and complete (remote) induction/training sessions for this role • Keep in regular (remote) contact with the Volunteer Cooridinator • Be able to communicate effectively with your Match • Be willing to learn about working with vulnerable people and follow our Safeguarding and Confidentiality policies • Follow our Equal Opportunities and Diversity policies
Start Date: 15/01/2021
End Date: 16/01/2022
We ask volunteers to commit to a once a week slot of about 30 minutes where they speak to their match. This is flexible and can be longer/shorter depending on the needs of both the client and the volunteer. We also ask that volunteers be available for the training session via Zoom.
This opportunity can be carried out whilst working from home.
