For The Pachamama Project
This is a no commitment, beginners project which you can fit in around your schedule. Whether you have time to make two pads or 200, if you have a sewing machine and a bit of free time, we want to hear from you!
We provide instructions, a video tutorial, a supportive community and materials when necessary. Join over 1000 volunteers in sewing reusable sanitary pads which last 3-5 years from your home which we then distribute to refugees around the world who cannot afford sanitary products.
Our latest distributions have been to Uganda, where we sent 4000 pads to be given to school girls who were missing out on education on a monthly basis because they didn't have access to products. We also send our Pacha Pads to Lebanon where a pack of pads can cost as much as £17, to be distributed to Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese people who live in the refugee settlements in the Bekaa Valley, as well as in 5 other countries.
From your kitchen table, into their hands, it couldn't be much more direct. Everyone and anyone is welcome to join our incredibly supportive community of sewers who in turn support people worldwide who deal with period poverty.
