Bexley One Stop Shop:
Bexley One Stop Shop is held every Wednesday at Bexleyheath Central Library from 12.30pm until 3pm. The one stop shop enables individuals to speak to a range of different services under one roof. This can include domestic abuse specialists, legal representation, and other voluntary and statutory agencies Volunteers would be required to meet and greet individuals, assist them with paperwork, encourage them to engage professionals and to secure feedback.
The Arise Program:
The Arise Program is an 8-week course for survivors of domestic abuse. Each week in the form of a workshop different topics relating to domestic abuse are covered to raise awareness of domestic abuse and encourage survivors to look for red flags should they enter a new relationship. Volunteers would be required to make initial contact with survivors via the telephone and assisting with admin.
Duty
Duty can be a busy and demanding role as it is often the first point of contact for women in crisis Volunteers would be required to make initial contact with the survivors, keeping accurate records of contact and processing referrals which are sent to the duty inbox.
Admin
Supporting the team with admin. This would include being responsible for the filing system, collating data, creating spreadsheets for recording and Community Outreach.
• Approachable with good interpersonal skills. • Non-judgemental. • Ability to maintain confidentiality. • Reliable, flexible with good time management. • Self-motivated (able to carry out tasks unsupervised). • Flexibility regarding variety of tasks associated with the role. • An interest in or understanding of domestic/sexual violence and its impact on women and children. • Computer literate.
