Are you passionate about helping others in your community to get more active? Would you like to be part of a growing team of people helping others to do 'their Mile, their way'? Then volunteering as Family Mile Ambassador for The Mason Foundation could be for you!

We are looking for committed people who want to make a real difference to their local community by supporting The Mason Mile. If you are 18 or over and have time to offer, then this opportunity could be for you.

You do not need a specific qualification to undertake this role, as long as you are committed to making a difference then that is the most important thing. We will provide support and all the relevant training to help you along the way.  We are looking for individuals who are passionate about helping people come together and who want to support and encourage others to take part in their mile, their way. Our greatest Ambassadors are those who really understand the local people and are committed to making a difference to the local community.

Part of our training includes MECC (Making Every Contact Count) this training will help you to have meaningful conversations with Milers who are contemplating lifestyle changes, you will be supported to signpost and handhold these Milers to appropriate services that are available in your local area. Our aim is for Ambassadors to become trusted friends within the community. You'll learn about our themed miles along with safeguarding and how to risk assess. We'll be there with you for the start of your Ambassador journey helping you set up and launch your Miles. Then we'll leave it to you to do Your Role Your way.

We invite all of our Ambassadors to attend a quarterly online workshop where you will have the opportunity to 'meet' Ambassadors from all of our localities, share best practice and ideas as well as further your own personal development through offers of additional training and support.

All we ask for at least 1 hour a week of your time.

Skills you'll learn:  Relationship building  Project management  Peer to peer support  Public relations  Marketing and Social media  Negotiating and partnership work

What skills do I need?

Approachable, trustworthy, willing to make a difference, community spirit, sociable.
