If you want to volunteer but need a bit of support, Volunteer Plus could be the project for you.

The Volunteer Support Project (VSP) is led by Sky Crook and it offers extra support to people experiencing some mental health and learning disability issues. For mental health, this can mean anything from being diagnosed with a mental illness through to struggling with loss of confidence after a period out of work, or feeling anxious about launching into something new. VSP also offers support to people with mild learning disabilities who would like to try out volunteering. Support offered includes 1:1 meetings, small workshops on topics relevant to volunteering, finding the right role for you, and getting started. We also stay in touch once you are volunteering if anything comes up that you would like a safe place to chat through. Basically, if you would love to volunteer but things are getting in the way, we are here to help!

During the Covid-19 crisis we have paused VSP for operational reasons. However, we are working hard on exciting changes and plan to relaunch the project in the summer of 2020 as the world starts to emerge. Watch this space for further information about start dates. In the meantime if this sounds like something that is helpful for you, feel free to get in touch with Sky Crook at sky@bvsc.co.uk for further information
