For Greenwich Wildlife Network
Greenwich Wildlife Network is looking for committed transport and rescue volunteers to help animals in need across Bexley, Greenwich and surrounding areas. A vehicle and a valid driver's licence are needed.
Every day between 9am and midnight, we post transport requests to a WhatsApp group. You simply choose which ones to help with - it's flexible, and mostly involves driving low-risk animals (like garden birds and other small animals) from A to B. Some light handling (like boxing a small animal) may be needed.
There's also an opportunity to get involved with hands-on rescues of larger, higher-risk animals - foxes, swans, geese - but this comes after shadowing experienced team members.
- Keep an eye on your emails after you make an application - we will send you the next steps to formally sign up as a volunteer.
- The steps include reading and agreeing to our volunteer guidelines.
- Join our WhatsApp group.
- Hitting the ground running and helping out with pick ups right away. Don't just lurk in our WhatsApp group for a month!
After three pickups or rescues, you’ll be provided with a GWN branded high viz jacket and a telescopic net. Other equipment may be provided if you become an active volunteer.
If you're dependable, compassionate, and able to start helping animals right away, we’d love to hear from you.
