Young people today need a safe space to connect and grow. At The HUB, we help youth Hang out safely, Unwind from daily pressures, and find a true sense of Belonging. But we can't do it alone! We are looking for passionate volunteers to help us build this community. Help us create a space that inspires the next generation.

What skills do I need?

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where young people feel they belong.
  • Support young people’s wellbeing, confidence, independence and personal development.
  • Help young people have a voice in shaping the Youth Hub and its activities.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop positive, trusting and appropriate relationships with young people aged 11–18.
  • Facilitate fun and engaging activities.
  • Encourage participation, creativity, teamwork and leadership.
  • Provide informal support and a listening ear when young people want to talk.
  • Identify emerging needs and signpost young people to appropriate support.
  • Promote positive wellbeing, healthy relationships, confidence and resilience.
  • Collaborate with parents/carers, schools, churches/community organisations and other professionals where appropriate.
  • Maintain appropriate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation.
  • Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and organisational policies.
  • Attend team meetings and/or training in addition to volunteering and your availability

Specifics

  • Every other Friday throughout the year or monthly, according to your availability
  • Must be aged over 18
  • Be flexible and committed
  • We will ensure you are fully supported by our Youth Lead
  • Our Volunteer Manager will check in with you in the first 6 weeks to ensure you are comfortable in the role
  • We do not pay expenses
  • We conduct a DBS Level 1 check for safeguarding purposes only.

Following your application, our Volunteer Lead will contact you to continue the recruitment process which will include taking up references.

Availability Details

The Hub is held twice a month, on a Friday. However, we are willing to accept volunteers on a monthly basis. Time requirement is 3 hours from 6.00-9.00pm.
