Play your part in helping people in your community play tennis for free at one of five local parks across the Borough of Bexley. The sessions run for an hour on either a Saturday or Sunday (depending on the park schedule). You don't have to volunteer each weekend, we're aiming for volunteers to deliver approximately one in four sessions.

Your support may be the reason why someone picks up a racket for the first time and discovers a new sport for life.

Barclays Free Park Tennis sessions wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of volunteer activators. As part of a team of two delivering a session you will work together to plan and lead fun activities on court as well as collaborating with TwistFizz C.I.C. who operate the parks tennis facilities in Bexley on behalf of the Council.

The sessions are open to children and adults of all ages and abilities, most won't have played tennis before.

You don’t need to be a coach or even have that much experience playing tennis, anyone with an interest in sport and well-being can become a Barclays Free Park Tennis Activator – in collaboration with the Lawn Tennis Association we’ll give you everything you need to succeed.

What skills do I need?

Skills and Qualifications: - A willingness to learn the basics of tennis and its rules. - Good organisational skills in managing session setup and participant registration. - Good communication skills to interact with participants and guide them through super fun activities - Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards encouraging physical activity and community engagement. - A First Aid Qualification would be ideal but not essential - Must be 16 or over

Support and Development: - Tennis Activators will receive training, guidance and support from our Volunteer Lead before starting as an activator - Training and personal development opportunities are provided to help you grow in this role.

Commitment: - Deliver 1 x 1 hour session each month.
