Befriender (face to face)

Evergreen Care UK seeks to serve older vulnerable adults in our community by improving their circumstances through advocacy, friendship and practical support. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to befriend older people and visit them for a minimum of an hour a week to help alleviate the debilitating effects of loneliness and social isolation and monitor any needs that may arise. You would be visiting the same person to provide friendship and monitor general well-being. We are looking for volunteers who can commit for a minimum of 6 months as it is important that time is given to develop the friendship.

Evergreen is a Christian Organisation but welcomes people from other faiths or none who are committed to our values promoting healthy ageing and the care and support of senior citizens in the Borough of Bexley. We provide induction and ongoing training and support, a Volunteer Handbook, 3 regular social meetings per month plus ad hoc events e.g. summer bbq for all our volunteers and the opportunity to meet new people and improve your skills and experience.
