Centrepieces is a small registered charity offering opportunities for people with mental health difficulties to participate in art workshops, exhibitions and other activities to assist in their recovery. We also run art projects in local schools and in the community. Centrepieces has no paid staff and is run by committed and experienced volunteers and trustees. We were awarded the King's Award for Voluntary Service in 2023.

We are looking for a Chair of the Board of Trustees to replace our current Chair, who steps down in February 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the strategic direction of Centrepieces, which is highly respected in the local community.

You will need to be skilful in chairing and leading meetings, ensuring a consensus approach to decision-making. An empathy with those with mental health challenges is essential.

You will work closely with the Project Co-ordinator to support him and the key volunteers in the management of the charity. You will also ensure the organisation complies with its governance documents and pursues its charitable objectives.

Trustee Board meetings are held 6-7 times a year, alternating between afternoons and early evenings. The time commitment, including the Board meetings, is around 1.25 days per month, mainly during the day.

The role is voluntary with no remuneration, although reasonable travel expenses can be paid.

We value diversity in our organisation and welcome applications from all sectors of the community.
