The Farm Assistant Volunteer Role offers the opportunity to be involved in the general running of the farm. We are looking for volunteers who can undertake general everyday tasks such as feeding and cleaning out of animals but also specific tasks related to the following areas: • Carpentry • Building and repairs • Electrical (qualification required) • Plumbing and Drainage • Painting • Metalwork (Welding) • Mechanics • Animal caring • Land management, including wood management If you have any of the skills mentioned above or others you think might be useful to our farm then come and join our team.

Depending on what needs doing on any given day, your skills and interests you can get involved in: • Feeding and looking after livestock (mucking out, animal handling etc.) • Conservation Management (cutting back vegetation, planting trees etc.) • Building management (plumbing, electrical, painting etc.) • General farm maintenance (fencing, running repairs, fire wood production etc.) • Engaging with visitors, sales • Assisting with Farm Events

What skills do I need?

Essential: • A good level of fitness, good coordination and dexterity • Ability to work well with others as well as on your own • Attention to details • Responsible and reliable • Good communication skills • Thinking and reasoning skills • Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations • Ability to follow instructions • Be able to work within the policies and procedures of the Woodlands Farm Trust following all recommended Health and Safety procedures • At least one qualification or experience in the areas mentioned in section 2

Desirable:

• Experience in conservation • Experience in working with animals • Driving licence
