• Accessibility
  We welcome disabled and neurodivergent volunteers and aim to make volunteering as accessible and supportive as possible. We will discuss individual access and support requirements with applicants and consider reasonable adjustments appropriate to the role. Club venues will be accessible.
• DBS check required
  An appropriate Enhanced DBS check, including the Children's Barred List where the role is eligible, will be required before the volunteer begins unsupervised or regulated activity.

• Expenses reimbursed
  We may reimburse reasonable travel expenses on a case-by-case basis. Volunteers are normally responsible for their own travel costs to and from their regular volunteering location. Where a volunteer is experiencing financial difficulties, we may be able to provide support with agreed travel costs. Any pre-approved expenses incurred while volunteering for Sirens & Sparkles First Aid CIC will be reimbursed in line with our Volunteer Policy.
• Ongoing support; Health and Safety Policy
  Volunteers receive ongoing guidance, support and supervision and work in accordance with Sirens & Sparkles First Aid CIC's Health & Safety Policy, safeguarding procedures and relevant risk assessments.
• Suitable for under 18s
  This opportunity is specifically for applicants aged 18+. A separate Youth Helper opportunity is available for young volunteers aged 14–17.
• Training provided
  Volunteers receive a full induction and appropriate training for their role, including safeguarding and first aid. Additional SEND, communication, behaviour-support, personal-care and other role-specific training will be provided where appropriate to the volunteer's responsibilities.
• Volunteer induction
  All volunteers complete an induction before beginning their role. This includes safeguarding, health and safety, club procedures, role boundaries and responsibilities, and the support available to them.
• Volunteer policy
  Volunteers are expected to follow Sirens & Sparkles First Aid CIC's Volunteer Policy, Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct and other relevant organisational policies and procedures.
• Volunteers covered by insurance
  Volunteers are covered by the organisation's insurance while carrying out authorised volunteering activities.
• Written role description
  A written Youth Helper – Sea Turtles (Ages 5–10 SEND Club) – 18+ role description is provided to applicants.

When can I volunteer?

Availability Details

We are currently recruiting Youth Helpers for our weekly Sea Turtles club for children aged 5–10 in Sidcup, starting from January 2027. Sea Turtles: Saturdays, 2:30 pm–3:45 pm. Volunteers are asked to arrive approximately 30 minutes before the session to help prepare and set up activities and remain for approximately 30 minutes afterwards to help tidy away and take part in a short team debrief. We ask volunteers to make a regular commitment where possible, as consistency and familiar volunteers are particularly important for many of our members. We understand that volunteers may occasionally be unavailable due to work, education, family commitments, holidays or illness. We ask for as much notice as possible so that appropriate staffing and support arrangements can be made. Training sessions and occasional volunteer meetings will be arranged in advance, with dates agreed wherever possible to accommodate volunteers' availability.
