Howbury Friends, Food bank at St Augustine's Church, Slade Green, supports local people in food crisis. We need 6-8 new, committed, volunteers to help us to keep the food bank running. Would you like to help out? The role involves serving the community (working outside so you would need to wrap up warm), stocking and replenishing the shelves, keeping things clean, and generally being an extra pair of hands where needed. We'll give you all the help we can (and train you for the role), but you also need to be quite pro-active as we can get very busy so sometimes we can be quite "stretched".  This organisation will be happy to phone you to provide more details on this role.

Please note that this group is very keen to recruit volunteers but has a very high workload, and is very tightly resourced. So, if you don't hear back quickly, please do consider visiting the group after registering interest at the church to meet the team and explore the opportunities available. What skills do I need?

We are looking for friendly, chilled, individuals who have good social skills and are prepared to "get stuck in".  We have a wide range of clients experiencing a diverse range of issues, and this can sometimes be an intense environment, so a relaxed, but helpful, approach to other people can be an asset.

This is a physically active role so we need people who are fit to lift and carry (we will train on manual handling, but it you are already trained, that would be welcome).  The food bank runs from 9.30-2.30 on Monday-Thursday and Fridays 10am-7pm
