Evergreen Care UK is governed by a Board of Trustees, who are responsible for the affairs and governance of Evergreen's charitable and non-profit activities. All business is conducted through its meetings and sub-committees, which follow an agreed and appropriate process of procedures in line with the Charity Commission regulations:
To ensure that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
To be responsible for the performance of the charity and for its’ ‘corporate’ behaviour.
To ensure that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
To act as guardian of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment, and proper application.
To ensure that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard.
What skills do I need?
The Board of Trustees collectively needs skills and experience in the following areas:
To work in partnership with other Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer, the Charity Secretary, and other senior members of staff.
To ensure that the business, operational and other plans support the vision, mission, and strategic priorities.
To ensure that the Board policies support the vision, mission core values, and strategic priorities.
To ensure that major decisions and board policies are made by the Trustees acting collectively.
Individually competencies and experience may include any of the following:
Trustees will meet on a regular basis to provide strategic direction, and consultation to Evergreen Care UK, and to give support and advice to the Chief Executive and the Senior Management Team.
Six board meetings a year (approx. 3 hours’ duration). In addition, Trustees are encouraged to join a subcommittee or working group to further the work of the board and support the SMT. These are usually by social conference platforms such as Zoom or Teams.
Trustees may be invited to participate in external gatherings with stakeholders, and senior-level meetings.
Trustees are expected to keep up to date with board documents and contribute to email discussions.
