Telephone Befriender

Evergreen Care Bexley seeks to serve older vulnerable adults in our community by improving their circumstances through advocacy, friendship and practical support. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to telephone older people on a regular basis weekly to help alleviate the debilitating effects of loneliness and social isolation and monitor any needs that may arise. You would be calling the same person(s) to provide a listening ear and monitor general well-being.

Evergreen is a Christian organisation.  Although you do not need to be a Christian to volunteer with us in this role, it is important that you are able to agree to volunteer within our values.

What skills do I need?

Volunteers will need to be:

• Empathetic
• Non-judgemental
• Patient
• Able to use own initiative
