Crossness Pumping Station is the jewel in the crown of the Victorian London sewers. Built originally in 1865 by Sir Joseph Bazalgette, our site includes beautiful examples of Victorian architecture including the Grade 1 listed Beam Engine house.
Our tour guide volunteers share this one-of-a-kind “cathedral on the marshes” with the public on our guided tours and open days. They bring the site to life with exciting stories, photographs, and objects that tell the story of Crossness and Victorian Britain.
